About RuneScope
What this is, what it does with your data, and what it deliberately does not do.
RuneScope is an independent, fan-made market companion for Old School RuneScape. Grand Exchange research, profit calculators, and a trade journal that remembers what you actually did — so that later it can tell you which of your plans were worth following.
It is the web version of OSRS Toolkit, the Windows desktop app, and shares the same calculations. There is nothing to install and nothing to keep updated — and if you do have the desktop app, it can point at your account here and keep its own journal level with this one, so a trade recorded in either place shows up in both.
Game interaction
RuneScope does not play the game. It generates no game input, communicates with no game world, alters no network traffic, and modifies no game client. The optional RuneLite plugin only reports trade events that already happened on your screen — it never acts.
Nothing here asks for, wants, or has any use for a Jagex password, bank PIN, or authenticator code. Never enter one anywhere that asks on RuneScope's behalf.
Your data
This is a hosted service, so being straight about this matters: your journal lives on the server that runs RuneScope, not only on your own machine. That is the trade you make for reaching it from any device. If the desktop app is pointed at this account, its journal is a mirror of the same one — recording a trade there sends it here, and vice versa. Point nothing at it and the desktop app stays exactly as before: everything on your PC and nothing leaves it.
- What is stored: your trade journal, tracked positions, imported RuneLite events, watchlist, savings goal, the names you have given your characters, and — if the desktop app is connected — a digest of its access token, never the token itself. One database file per account, shared with nobody.
- Sign-in: a Discord user id, username and avatar, or nothing but the hash of a recovery code. No password is ever held. No email address is ever asked for.
- Prices come from the OSRS Wiki real-time price API. Character lookup reads the public hiscores. Neither knows who asked.
- Taking it with you: the CSV export on your profile is your whole journal, any time you want it.
Estimates, not promises
Every price shown is a completed transaction, not an outstanding offer — an item can fail to fill at a price it traded at moments ago. Margins, GP/hour figures and boss requirements are estimates drawn from market data and community sources. They are worth reading and they are not guarantees.
